Sen. McCain's choice of Palin as his running mate surprised many on both sides of the aisle. She wasn't one of the heavy favorites like Sen Joe Lieberman but it is obvious to see why she was a good candidate for McCain; she can balance out many of his deficiencies. 

Though Palin has only been Governor of Alaska since 2006, and has traveled little outside of the country, she has been active in politics for years and has been running her large family for longer than that. She is what many affluent woman are these days; working mothers. Her five children, whose ages range from 20 to only a few months, Track, Bristol, Willow, Piper and Trig, have been raised as many of the off-spring of the affluent are which is with and excellent example of family and the hard work of both parents. 

That balance of working and raising children, managing a house and a marriage is something completely familiar to the affluent women of America. In the coming weeks do not be surprised when you hear about Sarah Palin: Super Mom as often as you hear about her track record on hunting or sex education or the environment. The stories about her are already reaching legendary proportions and will soon be like the tales of Paul Bunyan and Daniel Boone. Its not that the stories are untrue or even exagerated, I just bet that for every one there is to tell about Sarah Palin, there is another to tell about one of your family members, friends, or co-workers. It is the kind of sacrifice and hard work that Palin has exhibited that is just one of the reasons why a woman and her family can rise to the ranks of affluent.
