After graduating from college with a degree in radio, television and film, he joined the industry, taking a job in animation but, within a few years, fell victim to a corporate downsizing.

Kirk rebounded quickly. Today, he works as an account manager for a subsidiary of a large Internet services company. He travels a lot, mostly in the Midwest. This is not a problem for him because he is not married.

Kirk is fortunate enough to have some savings, thanks to his family’s good fortune. His mother oversees all of his investing. “She goes to all of these seminars,” he explains.

Kirk lives with his family, so he is able to save most of his salary. His parents, both of whom are doctors, divorced and later remarried.

“My mother invested in real estate early on, so she has done really well,” he says. “My dad also has a couple of houses.”

Kirk’s ultimate goal is to have a lifestyle similar to that of his parents. He wants to be able to semi-retire in 15 years and live on the income from his investments.

Kirk is getting married in the next year, so he anticipates some dramatic changes in his life. He and his fiancé, an attorney, believe they have enough assets to buy a home in Beverly Hills and start building toward their future.
