Why Sarah Palin Should Get to Keep the Clothes

There has been a substantial amount of controversy regarding the alleged amount of money spent by the Republicans on Sarah Palin's wardrobe and I am here to defend her right to keep the clothes. There are several reasons I feel these expenditures were justified.

1. Have you ever bought a suit at Neiman Marcus??! Of course the quality and the design are great....they look good....they travel well....and I can assure you that for $150,000 she didn't get a boat load of suits. I don't know but I assume there are probably not a lot of Neiman Marcus stores in Alaska, so Sarah had to stock up when she got the chance.

2. Outfits for the rest of the family were included in the price tag. I can assure you that Todd probably didn't have a lot of suits hanging in his closet. And those cute little dresses Piper and Willow wore to the convention....not cheap either. I'm sorry but their Alaskan woolies would not have been appropriate.

3. Who wants to wear somebody's old suit? They are too nice for most office settings and not nice enough for evening wear. I can assure you that most of the people these suits would be "donated" to won't have anyplace to wear them. While Michele Obama's and Cindy McCain's clothes were beautiful as well, they were clearly more dinner partyish. Besides, why do they get to keep their clothes?

4. Palin's suits were bought in a time crunch. Unlike the other candidates and their spouses who bought the appropriate attire over a 24 month or longer time frame, Sarah had to get up to speed in the clothing department in a really short time frame. That's why the cost seems outrageous. I bet if you added up the expenditures over a longer time frame for other candidates, it would also be quite expensive.

5. Face it, men's suits just don't cost as much as women's. What else can I say? A black or blue suit is just that. While they each probably had several, only the ties are different. I don't want to be a snob, but it really seems that the whole issue has been taken out of a realistic context.

But the most important reason that Sarah should get to keep her clothes is:

"THEY BEAT HILARY'S PANTSUITS, HANDS DOWN!!!!!!"
