New research by Spectrem Group shows ultra-high net worth individuals often own either a professional practice or a privately held business.

Nearly half (49%) of those individuals who have a net worth of $5 million to $10 million own some type of enterprise, and that percentage increases at progressively higher levels of wealth, to 82% of those who have a net worth of at least $25 million.

There also is a correlation between the value of professional practices and privately held businesses and the net worth of their owners, with the most valuable enterprises owned by the wealthiest individuals.
