Affluent investors of all ages are more likely to put their money in equities than cash, fixed income, real estate, alternative investments or precious metals in the next 12 months.

Research by Spectrem Group shows equities are the investment of choice for 72% of those who are younger than 50, 56% of those who are 50 to 64 years old, 52% of those who are 65 to 74 years old and 41% of those who are 75 or older.

However, cash-based investments also hold considerable appeal, especially among the youngest group of investors.
