Writer/Director J.C. Chandor Gets the "Call" from the Academy

Millionaire Corner congratulates J.C. Chandor, the writer and director of Margin Call on his Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay. Margin Call, Chandor’s first feature film, is set inside an investment bank on the eve of the 2008 economic collapse. Over the course of one fateful night, the  increasingly desperate corporate hierarchy struggles to ensure the bank’s (and their own) survival. The film has already received honors from the National Board of Review, the Independent Spirit Awards, and several critics associations. The New Yorker hailed Margin Call as “one of the strongest American films of the year and easily the best Wall Street movie ever made.” It is a testament to Chandor’s script that this low-budget, filmed-in-17-days independent film was able to attract a stellar cast, including Oscar-winners Kevin Spacey and Jeremy Irons, as well as Paul Bettany, Demi Moore, Simon Baker, and Zachary Quinto, who also served as producer. Chandor spoke with us last December about the making of the film. Click here to read the interview. And here's a dramatic scene from the film.
