Millionaire Confidence Drives Outlook Increase

 

The Spectrem Affluent Household Outlook, which is based on investor attitudes regarding issues that impact their daily lives, rebounded from -10.7 points to .50. However, this is the lowest level since September 2010.

Overall, each component, although still at low levels, did post increases this month. Investors expressed the most confidence in Household Assets, which increased from -12.2 points last month to 14. The Economy, too, rose, from -26 points to -14.51. Attitudes toward Household Income saw a modest increase from 0 to 3.1, while Company Health also increased slightly from -4.6 points to 0.56.

Millionaire attitudes were significantly more optimistic than in Non-Millionaire households. The overall Millionaire Outlook increased to 4.5 points from 0.8. The Non-Millionaire Outlook, on the other hand, was -13.8. However, this was up from -21.8 points last month.

Millionaires expressed mixed confidence in the Outlook components. Household Assets rose from 2.5 points last month to 17.3, while the Economy increased from -18 to -10.9. However, attitudes toward Company Health dipped from 6.8 points to 5.4, while Household Income dropped from 12 points to 6.1.

In Non-Millionaire households, the Outlook was also mixed. The readings are still low, but several categories saw rebounds. After a significant drop last month, confidence in Household Assets jumped from -26.5 points to 2.3. Household Income ticked up slightly from -11.3 points to -7.8, while the Economy rose to 27.6 points from -33.8. Company Health, though, fell to -22.2 from -15.6
