Household Income and Assets Post Significant Gains

The Spectrem Affluent Household Outlook, while in negative territory since August, posted its largest increase in six months, gaining 8.79 points to -2.92.  The jump was driven by double-digit increases in two of the Outlook components. Household Income jumped 12.38 points to 5.75, the highest reading since May and the first time since October that this component had a positive reading. Household Assets gained 10.1 points to -1.25, its highest reading since July.

Company Health gained 6.66 points to 0.75, also its highest reading since July, and the first time since May that this component has posted a positive reading. The Economy gained 6.13 points to -16.92, a   four-month high.

The Outlook is based on investor attitudes regarding issues that impact their daily lives. Millionaire households drove the increase in the overall Outlook with its most positive reading in five months. The Millionaire Outlook entered positive territory for the first time since July, gaining 14.41 points to 5.87. The biggest increase was in Household Income, which gained 25.77 points to 14.06. Household Assets gained 21.62 points to 15.72, while Company Health increased 8.83 points to 4.20. The Economy posted a modest gain of 1.42 to -10.51. This component has been in negative territory since May.

The Non-Millionaire Outlook remained in negative territory, where it has been since June. It gained 3.64 points to -11.98, the highest level since May. Two of the four components did post increases this month. The Economy gained 13.21 points to -23.54, while Company Health gained 4.66 points to -2.81. Household Income declined 2.5 points to -2.82, while Household Assets ticked down .89 points to -18.75.
