Go Big Green?

Sports teams auction jerseys for charity on St. Patrick's Day

You sit down to watch your team, see a swarm of green jerseys and think you have the wrong station. Don’t Touch That Dial! It’s St. Patrick’s Day and many professional sports franchises are going green for charity.

Baseball teams will follow suit this summer by wearing Irish-themed jersey around the “half way to St. Patrick’s Day” mark. The franchises auction the collectible clothing and donate the proceeds to charity. A jersey signed by White Sox outfielder Alex Rios sold for $401 in an online auction that closed Sunday.

So, you can see that any confusion you may suffer over your team’s identity is for a good cause. Meanwhile, brace yourselves for Wolves wearing leprechaun hats, Bulls sporting clovers and Blue Jackets not wearing blue.

I collect baseball caps for over 3 years now and would attend auctions for precious items. I also, usually, purchase Reprebate.com's New Era caps. Undortunately, I wasn't able to attend the auction becuase of my job. I was aiming Alex Rios' jersy. I hope there would be another auction in the coming months.
